The logistics industry has been buzzing with excitement about the potential benefits of generative AI for years. Now, some of the most innovative companies in the space are deploying AI-powered solutions in full force, turning that potential into reality.

Earlier this year, Tenstreet unveiled 35 innovative features at its annual user conference. One of the company’s newest solutions, Pulse+, uses generative AI to make communication more efficient and strengthen human connections. 

“Pulse+ leverages generative AI for automation and engagement with drivers. It does not eliminate human connection. Rather, it makes sure that connection happens at the best times and places,” Tenstreet Brand Awareness Manager Molly Vidler said.

The Pulse+ platform houses several new AI-centric features, including PulseChat, PulseBot, PulseNav and PulseGeo.

PulseChat

PulseChat allows drivers and carriers to communicate throughout the entire hiring process, including before drivers submit an application. This tool is designed to save both drivers and carriers time by allowing drivers to get basic information about potential employers before taking the time and effort to fill out a full application and go through a formal interview.

Standout features include Pre-Application Messaging,  which allows drivers to ask carriers questions before providing any of their own information, and MatchDM,  a feature that lets carriers send application links to drivers who have sent pre-application messages via PulseChat, with the driver’s permission. 

PulseBot

PulseBot enables carriers to instantly respond to applicant questions and other after-hours messages with preloaded policies and AI-generated responses. The responses are formulated from information recruiters have shared via Pulse messages and dashboard emails over the past 60 days. This enables drivers to get immediate answers to their more basic questions, while still allowing humans to step in and take over the chat if needed.

“The AI is only being used to answer things like policy questions, not things recruiters need to spend time on or that a driver would expect a human touchpoint on,” Vidler said. 

Once a conversation becomes more nuanced, humans take over. This allows carriers and drivers to create more meaningful connections since the most basic questions have already been addressed.

PulseNav

PulseNav lets drivers share their routes with carriers, shippers and even loved ones via TruckMap. This allows for easy location updates and check-ins, reducing distracting phone calls and messages. It is important to note that drivers must be the ones to initiate sharing with PulseNav, and their locations will only be shared with their permission. 

PulseGeo

PulseGeo expands even further on Tenstreet’s location and navigation sharing advancements. With this solution, automatic written and video messages can be triggered when a driver comes within a quarter mile of a location of interest, such as a pickup site. This keeps everyone in the loop about the status of a shipment without any human effort or intervention.

PulseGeo’s Weigh Station Alerts feature alerts carriers when drivers are stopped at weigh stations for extended periods of time. It can also send automated messages to drivers, reminding them to submit inspection reports and communicate possible delays. 

As with all Tenstreet products, these solutions were created with drivers top of mind. Creating a better experience for potential – and current – drivers has always been a winning recruiting and retention strategy. By putting drivers first, Tenstreet is helping its carrier clients do just that. 

“The technology has been available for a while,” Vidler said. “We are excited to be using it for something good.”

Tenstreet’s new features are currently being beta tested by a select number of the company’s clients, but widespread roll-out is scheduled for September.
