Maine State Police are investigating after a tractor-trailer slammed into a bridge Friday morning, shutting down a roadway.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when the truck, which was transporting a wind turbine blade, collided with a railroad bridge that crosses over Route 1 in Stockton Springs, a small coastal town. The driver was transporting the blade to Columbia, about 66 miles away, police said.
The collision caused the truck to overturn. No injuries were reported, police said.
The highway was closed for hours Friday. The blade will be returned to Searsport.
