Make yourself a plan before you make a purchase.
When it comes to freight there are many different commodities that need to be transported. This makes it necessary for there to be various types of equipment in order to haul all the freight. Knowing what type of freight and which commodities that you are trying to haul will greatly help you in choosing your equipment. Another thing that you should keep in mind when shopping for that new truck and trailer, is what you are wanting your routine to be. If you absolutely hate to wait and do nothing for extended periods of time, then you may want to consider steering away from dry van and refrigerated loads. The same things applies if you do not want to be getting out into the elements and securing your load several times a week, if that sounds like you, then I would stay away from flatbed and any other open deck type commodities. One more thing to consider when determining what kind of equipment you should purchase, is where you are located at on the map. If being at home on a frequent or regular basis is something that is important to you, then you should start thinking about what kind of freight you should be hauling. That way you can make coming home a profitable luxury instead of a costly inconvenience.
